United States: The US Food and Drug Administration has reported a surge in illnesses linked to Diamond Shruumz edible products, resulting in at least 16 hospitalizations and a total of 26 cases across 16 states as of Monday.
Notable symptoms that have been witnessed include the case of seizures, muscle rigidity, cardiovascular dysrhythmia, and hypotension, as well as nauseous feelings. According to the health advisory of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some individuals were admitted to ICU intubation and mechanical ventilation by dosing chocolate bars infused cones or gummies from this company, as CNN Health reported.
The reason behind these illnesses is undiscovered, and this leads to investigations by the FDA, CDC, America’s poison center, and local organizations. The FDA has opened a line of communication with the company, further involving them in a discussion about the product recall.
Consumers are strongly advised against consuming, selling, or serving Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars, cones, or gummies, which claim to contain a unique mushroom blend and have been distributed nationwide.
Diamond Shruumz has not yet responded to CNN’s request for comments, as CNN mentioned.
The popularity of products containing cannabis or mushrooms, such as gummies, chocolates, and snacks, is reportedly increasing, according to the CDC. These products, particularly appealing to adolescents and teenagers, have prompted warnings from the FDA.
Brands promoting mushroom-infused products cite alleged health benefits such as enhanced concentration and vitality, as well as the induction of hallucinatory and euphoric states. Nonetheless, the CDC advises against their use, cautioning that they may contain undisclosed ingredients potentially linked to serious health issues.
